Conditioning is carried out to expose the packaging or product to conditions that it could meet during transit in any part of the world. This covers from the very cold to normal controlled conditions to hot and humid conditions. The reason that this is done is that packaging behaves differently in different conditions. For example the glue used when making boxes may deteriorate in hot humid conditions where certain plastics may become brittle in cold conditions. Care needs to be taken when defining the conditioning as the materials used in either the packaging or product may not be robust enough to with stand these conditions. Typical conditions that packaging or product are exposed to are indicated below, this may vary depending on the standard used.
