What is this?
Dust ingress testing is classified in international standard IEC 60529 as the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of dust into electrical enclosures that can cause contamination and corrosion. This type of test is available in two forms.
- Ingress of dust is not totally prevented, but dust shall not penetrate in a sufficient quantity to interfere with satisfactory operation and safety of the product.
- No dust shall be allowed to penetrate into the product being tested.
Why is this performed?
Dust testing is performed to ensure the integrity of the sealing of your product.
