The two main dye penetration tests that are carried out at Anecto are ASTM F 1929 and EN868-1 on either opaque or non-opaque package types.

The dye penetration test is used to determine the integrity of the package seal. This test involves inserting a dye penetrant solution into the package and allowing it to come into contact with each entire seal for a specific length of time. The package is examined for evidence of seal failure demonstrated by dye penetrating through the seal.

The picture indicates the type of fault detected by a Dye Penetration test. The flow of the Dye Penetrant can be clearly seen through the faults.
