HALT/HASS
HALT (High Accelerated Life Testing) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening)
What is HALT?
HALT is an extremely aggressive process performed to quickly identify product weaknesses and expand design margins. HALT is used to establish the absolute working limits of the product under test. Once a design flaw is identified it is analysed by a designer, and, if found to be relevant, is corrected. At Anecto we have the capacity to place products under extreme conditions that in turn allow us to interpret how we can improve that product.
Stresses that we utilise:
- Omni-axial random vibration.
- Extreme high and low temperatures.
- Rapid temperature transitions.
- Voltage and frequency margining.
- Other relevant stresses.
What is HASS?
HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening)
HASS is a process that can be used throughout the manufacturing life cycle of a product to determine if process changes or component changes have any detrimental affect on the working and reliability of the product. The HASS process uses the working limits that were established during HALT.
Why is HALT/HASS useful?
HALT/HASS have many financial and quality related benefits:
- Evaluate and improve design margins.
- Significant savings in service costs.
- The product is ready for production and can reach the market faster.
- Massive reduction of faults occurring during customer use leading to increased customer satisfaction.
