What is this?
Temperature cycling consists of multiple cycling of changing temperatures between predetermined extremes. As different products have different surface areas and the materials have different coefficients of expansion great care should be taken with the number of cycles and dwell times in order to achieve the optimum results.
Why is this performed?
Temperature cycling tests are very useful in determining thermal fatigue limits, exposing defective components and forcing latent defects into failure.
