Thermal Shock Testing

In Anecto we have two separate thermal shock chambers, which give us an excellent capability in this area. We also have automated test systems for thermal shock with splash water, which are mainly used for automotive test applications, but not exclusively. These tests are in compliance with  ISO 16750-1 to -5.

Why do thermal Shock?

Temperature changes create contraction and expansion in various materials. These movements, induced by their linear coefficients of thermal expansion, will create stress.

Thermal Shock Testing is a process where the product is exposed to extremes of High and Low temperatures with very short transition times (seconds) between both temperature levels.

It is very useful in forcing latent defects into failures detecting poor solder joints and weaknesses such as cracks in components. Through rigorous qualification testing by exposure to temperature shocks potential design defects will be eliminated from products during the design cycle.

Standards which fall under our ISO17025 accreditation include EN60068-2-14 Temperature Cycle/Shock.
